What Happened In This Years NFL Draft
By Noel Prendergast
The NFL draft is held every year and 257 college players are drafted to the NFL over seven rounds to the 32 NFL teams over three days.
The top most talked about players before this draft were Cam Ward who was picked 1st, Travis Hunter who was picked 2nd, Abdul Carter who was picked 3rd, Ashton Jeanty who was picked 6th, and Sheduer Sanders who was picked 144th.
The draft took place in Green Bay Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, the stadium where the Green Bay Packers play. It is held at a different NFL stadium every year.
They do the draft every year to pick the top college football player to join an NFL team and the team gets to choose them based on what they need to improve their team and based on how many picks they have and where the picks are. The order of the picks is chosen by records from the previous season so the team with the worst record gets the first picks and the team with the best gets the last. That team is typically the previous year's Super Bowl champion.
The draft was last weekend. It started on Thursday April 24th and finished on Saturday April 26th. They do the first round on the first day, rounds 2-3 on the second day and rounds 4-7 on the last day to finish it.
The highest paid rookie from the 2025 NFL draft Cam Ward who was the first pick signed a contract for $48,757,500 for four years with the
Tennessee Titans. This 2025 NFL draft is the highest paying in NFL history with the biggest rookie signing bonuses.
